mercury 200 20 hp

am on marineengine web site and am looking for parts for my merc 200 20 horse. punch in serial number search and mine is 4054848, marineengine starts with 4700000. I need a spring for my pull starter any help please. Thanks

That part has been discontinued and I am not aware of a cross ref to a (newer) spring that you could maybe jury rig up.

The Merc part number is 24-29340T02 supreceded from 24-29340A1 - could try websearching for either part number - might find someone with old stock.

Other alternative is contact a recycler (such as www.twincityoutboards.com - just as one example)...

I'll look today, I have lots of NOS rewind springs in stock. DO not order a SIERRA aftermarket spring. I have about 10 of them new in the package and they are all JUNK. The spring steel they use is half the thickness of the OEM Merc stuff and when wound in the sheave they only take up half the space, when you try to wind the spring and tighten the jamb nut it binds the spring as the spring does not have the strength to overcome.. I have sent e-mail after e-mail to sierra and even talked to a couple of there tech guys with no luck.
 
Hello, new here, not nsure how to starty a question, so I clicked on reply hoping someone will be there, I have major issues keeping a pull starter working for my 1997 mercury (200) 20 hp, the cogs won't spin out consistently, broke rewind spring, replaced, I would like to replace complete rewind assembly housing, cogs etc, is this possible ? Bob. (PS maybe shouldn't have bought from a wannabe mechanic.) Oh well! :)
