Mercury 20 gearbox drain gasket

Looking for replacement gaskets/o-rings for the drain and vent holes on a 2011 Mercury 20hp 4 stroke carb- I ordered some on Amazon and got some gaskets that were more like plastic spacers than sealing gaskets. Is this right? I don't want to remove the bolt without having the right replacement part and dont want to use the old ones. I'd expect more of a silicone or nylon o-ring for an oil seal. I ordered some other parts from boats.net part # 8M0082880 which looks a little softer. Anyone know what that material is supposed to be?
Thanks

I think it's a hard cardboard like - material that is soft enough to create a compression seal and it's water and lube proof. Don't use O rings they squeeze out of the hole.

There is a variety of types out there. My favorite is the white semi soft nylon type material. Why? Because it squishes once you tighten the screws, then sticks on the threads......so next time you take them out, they usually come out with the screw. I have motors with these type of seals that have lasted for over 40 years.......about the time this material was first introduced for this application. I have also used the same seals in a light blue color, usually found on OMC's.
