"I have a 1980 18hp merc outboard. I just purchased the carb rebuild kit and need some guidance on the process. Does anyone have the procedure documented ? The adjustment specs for the air/idle, main jet, and float would be a big help for starters. Anything tricky here ?

right now it's running super rich so im pretty sure something is not adjusted properly

float should be parallel with

float should be parallel with housing when held upside down. mixture screw start with 1 and a 1/4. when running in gear in water set 1/2 way between too lean ( in ) and too rich ( out ). take your time. small movements and wait
