Mercury 15hp 4 stroke questions

Hello, I have some basic questions about a motor I just purchased. This happens to be my first motor and it is a Mercury 15ml 4str by model number and it is a 2004. It is manual start and from the looks of it in pretty good cosmetic condition. I bought this off of craigslist and unfortunately I really do not know too much about motors. I did not notice that the battery cables were not included which leads me to my problem. Where do they hook up? I have read nothing specific to my motor but from general reading the positive goes to a large stud on the solenoid and the negative obviously is grounded to the chassis. This may seem really stupid but for the life of me I cannot locate the solenoid. I know what a solenoid looks like and I am not trying to open up anything with this motor yet besides the cover so I am not hunting around for it without asking first. Is this different for manual start motors? Does the cables happen to hook up somewhere else? I would love any help and sorry for the stupid newbie questions but I am just trying to have some basic experience with a motor for the first time and have some peace of mind I did not get screwed off of craigslist either. Thank you.

#14 is the solenoid. The left terminal is where the + battery connects. The - battery cable can be attached to one of the starter's mounting bracket bolts...not where the + wire from the right terminal of the solenoid connects.

I do not have an electric starter. I feel like a moron right now. I do not have a starter or solenoid nor do I need a battery since it is pull start only. Thanks for the replies anyways, I guess it threw me off because the design of the motor seems to be a platform for electric start and they just do not put those parts in since its manual start.
