Hi there,
I have a ~2010 Mercury 15 4 stroke. The motor starts and runs great, but after about a minute of low idle trolling, it starves itself of fuel.
The motor is at our remote camp, 6 hours away, and I really didnt want to haul it back, so troubleshooting isnt ideal. I did a carb clean, but I refused to spend $265 canadian (when did carb kits start costing more than $40) on a large carb kit containing a bunch of stuff I didnt need. The bowl gasket and jet o-ring looked a little dry, so I plan on replacing them. The needle looked great, some mild grime but nothing wild. I didnt pull the top off, as with the condition of the rubber gaskets, I imagined the sheet would probably tear and leave me unable to see if I made any progress. Alas, I didnt. I will get a new gasket and replace that as well. I did replace the fuel filter.
After further research, I see it may be sooner in the fuel delivery cycle. I have a different tank and line I plan on taking up to eliminate that.
I see fuel pumps can cause this issue. Looking at the IPL, it appears to not really be servicable? just an o-ring? Can that fail? is there any troubleshooting here or is it just something you need to replace?
