Mercury 125hp

i have just purchased a Mercury 125 hp 1996 model. were all of the 125hp 2 + 2's? Or did they start later.
If so has anyone successfully disabled this system with a carb swap.

Any info would be appreciated.

Not the answer you want , but set up correctly it works quite well.-----If a bad system it would have been short lived.
