I recently bought a mercury 110 1973 for repair.
It has good compression, it sparks great, it isnt seized and i cleaned the carburator thoroughly (soaked everything in carb cleaner and blow it out with an compressor) but it still wont start.
The second time of pulling the carb of i saw something laying in the air intake at the start of the crankcase, i pulled it out and can be seen in the picture. I cant find it anywhere on the exploded view of the engine.
If i blow a mixture of oil and starter fluid into the throat of the carb its start up for a bit but dies down pretty quickly.
What could it be
