Mercury 10 XR - South Africa - Year model

Need some help trying to find the year model of a Mercury 10HP XR with serial number 09716275. I have search many sites but not been able to find any info. This motor is in South Africa.

This outboard was made in Belgium, and was told by the previous owner that it was a 1999 model. Is their anyway to check how this compare to the US models as i would like to order a service manual/parts?

Looks to me you found your year. 10 HP, 0971000 - 09792199 = 1993 XR + Sea Pro.

There are two mercury part numbers for your service manual, You can use either number you like to buy your service manual because they are both still available at this time here in the U.S for $74.95. The manual was recently revised or updated in 03. The R02 shows you the revised virshion.;)
