New member
New engine install 2 summers ago. Now having power problems will not exceed 3500rpm. It idles perfect and in neutral can get up tp4500 rpm. Checked entire exhaust and fuel systems.Also the tach will occ rapidly change. Suggestions? Believe it maybe an ignition electrical problem. ? Corroded main connector may,loose wire or some kind of ground. Am I in the right direction
 
Considering that you have posted a MerCruiser question about an unknown year, model number or serial number of engine, size of boat or why it needed a new engine in the Johnson/Evinrude section I'd say no you are not "in the right direction"

Repost in MerCruiser section, include details and perhaps your mechanical skill level.
