"I have a 4.3 V6 Alpha One in an 18 ft. Glastron. Boat runs great first day out, second morning won't start without pouring gas in carb 4-5 times, once started runs great all day. My mechanic has rebuilt carb and installed new choke assy, same problem. I suggested fuel pump but he doesn't think so because runs great all day once started. Any suggestions?"

"Actually the fuel pump is not pumping during the problem time. I have been told that replacing the pump is not necessarily the answer since it runs so good after getting it started. Any idea why the pump would not work after sitting overnight, but then work fine."
 
Trace the wiring from the fuel

Trace the wiring from the fuel pump until you find a spade connection; check it for corrosion. Pump relay may be on the way out; won't hurt to change it if the wiring is good. Relays don't last forever.
