Hi all hope this boating season is great! I have a 2000 4.3 Mercruiser 2bbl with Thunderbolt V ignition system.
Here's my question, my starter solenoid has 4 terminal posts on it, 2 large and 2 small, I know that the 2 large ones are for the + battery cable and the starter motor connection. The one small terminal is connected with a red/yellow wire from the slave solenoid and my ignition system, the 4th terminal is connected to a purple/yellow wire going to the fuel pump, automatic choke and alternator. I need to replace my starter solenoid but can only find ones with only 3 terminals, im thinking that the 4th terminal provides temporary power to the fuel pump and choke during start up and the altetnator takes over after that. Can I connect the purple/yellow wire to the bottom large terminal that feeds the starter motor during the ignition cycle. Or is this not a good idea, is the 4th small terminal not the same as the lower large terminal as far as power supply.
Any information is always appreciated, thanks.
