Mercruiser serial number

I have a 3.0 Mercruiser I/O and I am trying to determine year model because it looks to be a reman engine.
It has three serial numbers on the valve cover and I am not really sure which one is which so I am going to include all three.
Transom Assembly A671239
Serial number on tag with the engine information A652221
Drive unit 0A659401
Any and all help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

They really don't track engines by 'year' as it can be ambiguous...The best item is the engine's serial number - A652221, in your case.

Sometimes, you can get the GM info off the block and get a good idea of the range it was manufactured in...

0A671239 belongs to a 1986 120 transom assembly, model number 00012006.

0A659401 = MerCruiser Stern Drive 1986 MC1 [1.98:1] Model number 01989016.​

Doesn't it somewhat match the year of the boat? 86 +/-range?
Be a different story if the first number started with say a 1 vs a 0 such as 1A, 2A as that would be newer engine models.
If things are still questionable, maybe try posting a photo of the overall engine.
