Mercruiser Remote Oil Kit installation

Hello - newbie here. I own a cruiser with a 1997 Mercruiser 5.7L 2bbl carb and Alpha1 Gen 2 sterndrive. Getting to the oil filter is a real challenge (esp at my age) so I purchased the remote oil filter kit per the P/N located on the MC Parts website. However, the kit indicates the remote head should be attached at the rear of the sterndrive remote oil bracket, but mine is on the opposite (starboard) side of the engine. I have power steering (PS) and the alternator mounted on the port side of the engine where the oil filter remote head is supposed to attach, so I am wondering how best to mount this kit. Can I make a bracket and attach it somewhere in the vicinity of the rear of the PS bracket? Anyone have any pictures which show how theirs is mounted with a similar engine as my 5.7L (no oil/water coolers on my boat - just standard sterndrive water pump)?

Thanks in advance....

What part number?
Basically you remove the oil filter , the threaded adaptor, install the remote oil body with 2 long allen head bolts , install hose adaptor and mount the filter head on the front most riser bolts.

Thanks. Unfortunately, my riser sits stop a 3" extender block which uses threaded studs, not bolts. And putting it under the top stud nuts (which would require 2 longer studs) would put it so high that the deck cover would not close as the riser tops are only millimeters away from touching the heat pad.

Appreciate the feedback though. MC PN was 864990 A1.

If you are savvy enough, I would suggest building your own system. The parts are available.
This way you can install the remote oil filter cartridge in an Up-Right position instead of Inverted!
You will also be able to Pre-Fill the new cartridge before installing it (very important in my book!)

NOTE: The filter cartridge is directional. The oil is to enter the exterior of the filter media and is to return from within the interior of the filter media.
In other words....... make dang sure that you plumb the lines correctly.
