"I have replaced several alpha 1 shift cables with no problem, After putting a new cable on an older 898 drive I have found that the new cable is slightly longer than the orginal one. with both cables adjusted as far as possibal there is still not enough travel to engage reverse. With the cable removed from the lever I can engage reverse fine. The orginal cable for this superceeds to the same cable as used on the alpha's. As I know to never cut the cable length it would appear in this case that a half inch shorter would give the extra travel needed for reverse. Has anyone put the newer cable on an 898 drive ? Thanks in advance for your help !"
