Mercruiser Gen 2 upper driveshaft seal

I'm resealing the upper on a gen 2. The seal that came out of the upper drive shaft housing was a single double lipped seal. My question is can you use back to back seals instead? My seal kit came with both types.

The GEN II drive used the same 2 seals in the upper. 26-66302 Sierra 18-2056

The seal that came out was a 26-864319 double lip seal. The parts diagram shows both types so I'm assuming you can use either the single 26-864319 or the 2- 26-66302. I damaged the the double lipped seal is the reason i was asking.
There's not a lot of info on the newer type seal. Service manual 14 doesn't mention it.

Replace it with the same as what came out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep!! I knew that. Ordered the new seal today along with the installer. Not going to ruin another seal!
