Hi All.
I am helping a friend of mine to replace the head gaskets on his boat, which is fitted with a GM 350 V8 with the mercruiser add on's...
It's a mid 1980's motor.
After a great deal of effort we now have everything back together but we neglected to take note of the alternator wiring during disassembly...
The Alternator is a Motorola. We have the black and orange/yellowish wires connected to their relevant poles, but we are battling with the two bullet connector wires.
The reason is that the Alternator has what looks like a brown wire and pink wire coming from it, but the boat harness has a thicker red/pink with a purple stripe in it and a plain purple wire
The Red/pink with purple stripe always has 12 V, while the purple one only has power with the ignition on.
The question is which wire on the harness goes with which on the alternator?
Thanks for the help.
Regards,
Keith.
