Mercruiser 898 Ignition

Hello,

I'm looking to change my ignition on my Mercruiser 898 from points to electronic. Any idea of what it would take to do this?

The Pertronix kit is "Hall Effect", and will do nothing to your existing distributor if it is in need of an over-haul regarding the bushings, and advancing system.

An 898 is an older engine, and I believe is Pre-TB ignition.
It may be time to replace the entire ignition distributor with something new.

This guy is offering a Mallory YLM 624 AV Marine Distributor Chevy 262-454 V8, for $170.
I've seen several of these, and they are new, apparently refurbished by Mallory. They look brand spanking new!
This particular ignition uses VR triggering..... Not Hall Effect, Not Photo-Eye.
