Does anyone know how to adjust

Does anyone know how to adjust valve for 2001 mercruiser?

I need to find out how to adjust the valve for the 2001 mercruiser 5.7. Can you help me?

Unless you've had it appart, I would ask "why" they need adjustment though."
 
The correct way to do it is to

The correct way to do it is to remove the covers and leave engine off. Turn the engine until the cylinder you want to adjust is at top dead center(both valves closed). Then you tighten both valves down to specs(see manual) and loosen them a certain amount of turns. Then repeat for each cylinder.

Both ways are Correct,....
1 is Static setting of the valves,..
And,..
The other is the Dynamic setting of the valves....

I prefer the Dynamic method....
I've seen Too many valves set Way tooo Tight using the Static method..."

It works fine if you follow the book. And by the way, I misspoke, you tighten til they touch and then TIGHTEN a predetermined number of turns."

Trouble is,...
Some of those Books say to tighten until resistence is felt,....
To a gumball fingered Non-Mechanic,....
That means the lifters are nearly Collapsed by the time the motor is 1st Lit....
