"Hello board, this is my first

"Hello board, this is my first post, but I am a long time reader. I own a 1988 Century 3500 LX Sport with a 5.7 Mercruiser. It is equipped with the Qjet Y40 4 barrel carb with remote choke. I have ordered a kit from Fly Fish Carberators to convert it to automatic electric choke.

1. What does anyone think - good or bad idea?
2. Anyone know of any pit falls?

Thanks in advance for any info!

"Not particularly, but my mari

"Not particularly, but my marine mechanic mentioned that she needed a new spring assembly (thermostat) for the choke due to a hard start (and it is a little rusted up). As I have always maintained the engine myself (by the book) I figured it was an easy enough project to tackle, and a good time to upgrade. I rebuilt the carb just two years ago - but did not get concerned with the choke to much.

Curious - does this type of upgrade require much "tweeking" or is it plug and play?

Thanks!

"Once you set the rotating out

"Once you set the rotating outer heater housing to just close the choke at room temp with a cold engine, that's about it for good, unless it gets sticky somewhere along the line.
