Mercruiser 5.7 - Wiring Question

Thanks in advance for the help. I am putting a 5.7 back together and having a bit of trouble with two wires, both are black. One on the starboard side next to the carburetor and has a spade connector on the end. The other is on the back of the engine and has ring connector, I believe this on might go to the post just in front of the distributor, but want to make sure. Pictures are attached.

On my 5.7MIE, the black wire with the ring connector goes to a screw (stud) ground on the block and when grounded, activates the low oil/overheat audio alarm. The quick test for this function .... with ignition on but engine not running momentarily ground that wire... You should hear an alarm, and if you start the engine and it runs, the alarm should stop fairly quickly ( oil pressure).

Neither are being used because the spade is for a different choke as BtDR said and the ring terminal was the old ground for the Post/two wire dist pick. If your dist pick up has 3 wires coming out of it the ground is not needed.... If you pick up does not have three wires, Put in a new pick up with three wires.
