I'm far from technically savy so I apologise in advance if this sounds like I'm a rookie.
I have a 2007 Searay 185 Sport with the Mercruiser 4.3 engine. The engine shuts down when the rpm's start increasing. There is almost a misfiring feeling (no sound) and a shudder the it dies. The ignition fuse is blown. Initially I replaced the fuse but it blew immediatly. A friend looked for a short and moved wires around and it started up but the same problem happened again and again.....moving wires stops the fuse from blowing but doesn't fix the problem. I have learned that if I throttle back immediatly when it starts to shudder I can save the ignition fuse and the boat stays running.

Help....anyone!

Is that the only fuse that blows? The ignition fuse controls other circuits. "Moving wires stops the fuse...doesn't fix the problem".

Disconnect the coil wires and check the coil studs and tower to the case w/an ohmmeter; may be shorting internally.

Check other wires and connectors; one could be shorting out against the component.
