Hi. I have a 470 with a MR outdrive. The manual that I have indicates that the U joint drive gear nut should be torqued to 70 - 80 lbs. (My drive shaft has the large and small spacers between the bearings so I understand I do not have to use the rolling torque method of tightening). Can anyone narrow down the torque that I should use or should anywhere between 70 and 80 lbs be OK? Most torque settings that I come across don't give a range.

75 is the target. If nylar nut is worn, replace it or use some Blue loctite on cleaned threads...
Make sure bearing pack is in perfect alignment, make sure to lightly Gear lube bearings and spin by hand before and after torqing nut.

Thank you. Will do. I have a new nut.
