Mercruiser 470 Engine Noise

Hi, new to the forum, thanks for any help in advance!

I have a 1989 Mercruiser 470 that just started making some noise and I'm not sure where to begin on troubleshooting/fixing it. It sounds like a bad bearing or something similar to me, but while I am not a total idiot around engines I've never worked on marine engines before so this is new to me. I took a video of the noise, it seems to be coming from the lower rear of the engine....

Ok, so I got the drive off and looked inside. Doesn't look good. It appears the seal had deteriorated at the very top and water was getting into where the gimbal bearing is at. I also started the motor for a few seconds and didn't hear the noise again. Here is a pic of the water in the cavity, the grease looked terrible.
