"Started engine, there is now water in the oil, and the water/oil mixture is coming back thru the carb when engine is running. winterized the engine same as for past 7 years, or so i thought. any ideas on what it could be?"

Can you describe how you were winterizing it?
That much mixing sounds like a cracked block.
When you removed the drain plugs did you "PROBE" THE HOLES TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO CLOG?

"A compression test would be a good starting point. When you say the water/oil mixture is "coming back through the carb", do you mean that it is coming back through the crankcase ventilation hose and into the flame arrestor or do you mean it is originating under the throttle plates???"

Bob Caskey - you are correct, it is thru the Crankcase Vent hose to the flame arrestor

it's funny how easily some people get pissed off. Although his engine did just take a big ol dump. I would be a little upset too. That still doesn't justify cursing a stranger out.

randy i have wathched many of these posts and i can say that all these guys are very helpfull and if you have a bit of patience these guys will save you a fortune and give you some great advice

And yes, your boat mechanic is going to bend you over and put the screws to you! And neil jones, kghost, chiefalen, Bondo,btdoctor and graham were just trying to help you! Like they try and help everyone that wants "HELP" on this site! So, maybe if you "LISTENED" very carefully to what was being said you might not need to go to a mechanic and possibly do the repair yourself! To make a long story short, "you just shot your own foot off and no longer have a leg to stand on!" Sorry Bondo, just couldn't let someone treat you guys like that! Especially after reading all the posts where you have gone the nine yards to help someone! Some people can't be helped!
