Mercruiser 43L stalls when idling

"I have a 89 Mercruiser 4.3L t

"I have a 89 Mercruiser 4.3L that starts great when cold, runs great all day if I do not slow down. I had a complete rebuild and installed an electric fuel pump. After running normally, then going into idle, I can hear the fuel pump start a noticable clicking sound as if it is getting starved for gas (or losing its prime). The engine then stalls for about 20 minutes. When stalled and moving the throttle, I can see two streams of gas going into the carb. Anti-siphon valve problem? Idle screw needs adjustment? Vapor lock? Flooding?
Anyone experience the same thing and have found a solution?

Will the engine idle? What RP

Will the engine idle? What RPM? It should idle at 650 RPM in forward gear.

"When the engine first starts up, it will idle indefinitely. I won't be able to check the RPM's in forward gear until next weekend. The problem starts after the engine has been under load for twenty to thirty minutes then I dial back to a slow crawl or go into idle.

See if the choke is closing wh

See if the choke is closing when you throttle back. The choke internal spring may be worn out allowing it to move when the engine is hot.
