Is throttling down the only time it occurs? No stalling or hesitations when you shift?

"Correct, no stalling or hesitations when shifting. While out yesterday, throttled back from 4000 to 3000 bucked twice within 5 seconds than ran fine for the rest of the time out."

"Sounds like a throttle/shift cable issue. Verify that both are functioning properly and correctly adjusted. Take a close look at the wiring and the operation of the shift interrupter switch. See that it is functioning as it should. This switch would make the engine hesitate if not secure and functioning properly. You can observe it in operation while someone else is at the helm. The switch wheel at the end of the arm is spring loaded and must remain in the groove while in gear even when throttling back. If it bounces out of the groove, there is your "bucking". Replace the switch."

"Doug;

It kind of sounds like your drive may not be fully engaging forward gear, and it slips out of gear once in a while.
You should check and adjust if necessary the shift cables at the cable bracket.
This is not a job for the inexperienced, but it can be done.
