Mercruiser 3.0 question

I have a 3.0 140 with a cracked block, I found a guy with an older 120 from the pics the casting looks the same. Will this work with my 140?

Ayuh,..... Externally they're identical,.......

Internally they're different,......

Yes, it'll bolt in, 'n run, but less horsepower,.....

Ones is 3.0 ltr/140 hp and the other is 2.5 ltr/120 hp. Approx 15% decrease.
