I recently bought my first boat, crazy huh? It's an '89 Raven 200DB powered with a Mercruiser 3.0 litre sterndrive. Overall the boat is in good but not great condition but I'm sure I got what I paid for. The engine appears fit and it started, restarted, and ran well when we took a pre sale run around Lake Blakshear. I've even hooked it up to water and started at home without problem.
My question is concerning a line about 20" long with an approximatly 1/2" OD that comes off the top of the throttle body just under the air filter (see picture below). It's connected to the carb but the other end is currently just draped over the top of the engine and hangs about as far as the bottom of the block. In the loose end is a short piece of metal tubing that extends about 1/4" beyond the end of the line. Where is this loose end supposed to connect?
Additional information: The previous owner told me he had the carb rebuilt and since then the engine needs a shot of starter fluid to get going after sitting for a couple of weeks. After starting it this way it no longer needs the starter fluid until it has sat for more than a couple of weeks again.
