Mercruiser 3.0 inline 4 hesitates at high rpms

On Sunday I took my 2007 Bayliner 3.0 LX 19' Bow rider out for the first time in 2 weeks and it began to hesitate during higher RPMS (3800 to 4000). I went out today after I replaced the water fuel separator spin on filter and put 20$ in new fuel with a fuel cleaner additive. It runs fine at idle and lower speeds but when it accelerates about 3800 to 4k it tries to stall out. I always put fuel stabilizer in during fueling. Its a 3.0 mercruiser inline 4. I had the carb rebuilt twice since I bought it new in 2009 (floor model) due to ethanol fuel issues but the fuel issues seemed to get better after stabil was used and water fuel filter installed. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!

Do a compression test on the engine and that will give you a chance to look at the colour/condition of the spark plugs.
But it could be gas, and $20 worth isn't going to make much difference in my neighbourhood - that's 3 gallons on a 30 gallon tank in my Bayliner.
I would be careful with all the extras you're pouring in the tank. Some stabilizer is fine, but more isn't more.
