Mercruiser 260 Engine Oil Filter

I just bought a 1983 Sea Ray with Mercruiser 260 (350 CID GM engine). The previous owner had a Fram PH13 lube oil filter but it has low particulate efficiency. Does anyone have a non-Mercury Quicksilver recommendation for a good lube oil filter? I did buy a Quicksilver filter (35-866340Q03) but the body appears small for the GM 350 CID engines. I'd like to consider either a Pure One or a Mobil 1 filter due to their very high 94% particulate efficiency. Does anyone know of any issues to using these?

Go to your local NAPA store and get there NAPA GOLD filter .

7099 is the merc equilvalant (short length)
1069 is the longer more filter media style.

remember the GOLD!!

Double check with the store but in general almost any small block V8 chevy oil filter for that approximate year will work.

94% particulate efficiency.
That made my day!

so 6% of all the debris entering the filter, just blows right through?
haha
there's more to filters than that, but yeah. Fram are among the worst I've seen.

I might have a Fram on my boat right now- not too concerned. I change the oil every 50 hours so the filter is largely cosmetic. The bypass opens on every cold morning and blows whatever is laying in there right to the bearings anyway.
Any of these auto style filters with a bypass valve in the bottom are not really doing much for the engine. Change the oil a lot and it will live a long time.
