"eddie from oregon, i will start over again with my brothers boat. to start with we put a new battery it and it started and purrd like a kitten, after sitting for two years. we took to lake(50yds.) then took out passed no wake zone1/2 mile opened it up(barely got up on plane) never got to speed it should have(maybe 1/2or 3/4) had slow down to pick up my hatand it died. it started back up but didn't want to idle. we tookback to dock ran fine . shut down for lunch. tried start would not (no spark out of coil wire). i thought the secondary windings went in coil. he new coil,points,condenser,rotor,cap,wires and plugs. installed and as spec. still no start (no spark). have 12v. to + side and 8or9 to neg side but still nothing at coil wire . the sediment in carb. and in fuel filter is from looking at other things since boat has sat so much without being used. i've run out of ideas with no start problem. he did put stay-bil in the last time he put gas in it (fillup). maybeyou'll have some better ideas since you have full story."

"no it doesn't have fuel/water seperator if itwas mine definatly would put one on. been thinking another condenser,maybe just try old one.did have spark at points when try to set with key on. thats why didn't think it was cond. just don't get much chace to work on it since he and boat are about 150miles away from me. just trying to get some ideas till weather breaks in about a month or so."

"Is there any chance you may have bumped the safety cutout switch on the throttle assembly?
Same indications... cranks, but no spark.
I spent about 4 hours troubleshooting instead of fishing once because of an incident involving scrubbing the decks, my fat butt, and that damned switch!"

that's a possibility i don't think it will turn over unless in nuturalthat's the only switch on control box that i know off. need to do further investigation the next time i get to work on it. i hope i can remember all these ideas when i get to work on it. thanks for help.
 
COME ON THERE IS A IGNITION SH

COME ON THERE IS A IGNITION SHUT OFF SWITCH OR SHIFT SWITCH THAT HAS HUNG UP.OR LOWER SHIFT CABLE IS STICKING . LOOK IN BACK OF ENGINE FOR SHIFT PLATE ON THIS PLAE THERE ARE TWO CABES A MICRO SWITCH AND A SPRING LOADED LEVER ROCK SWITCH BACK AND FORTH ROLLER NEEDS TO SITT IN CENTER OF W IF STILL NO SPARK DISSCONECT BROWN WIRE @ neg on coil hook only points wire up to neg side of coil see what happens

"shawn, why are yelling(caps) at me. i have power to both sides of coil with key on. but no spark to coil wire. the more i think about it, it might be wrong coil. i realy don't like the way anserd my question (or attitude ). if wish to continue that,don't respond to my questions. thank anyway response."
