mercruiser 140 motor problems

bench tested the starter and its shot, just ordered a new one so i cant do anything till it arrives. thanks for all the input.

update, got the new starter installed. fresh oil and new oil filter. it turns over now. so the motor isnt stuck. but its not firing. i dont have any spark coming out of the coil. so i'll buy a coil tomorrow. i cleaned the points and it has a new cap and rotor. hopefully the coil gives it the spark.

Did you get the engine running yet?

UPDATE !! good news , i got it running today. ran for 5 minutes , no engine noises, lower unit engaged forward and reverse. looks like its good to go. thanks for all the help. !!

Keep an eye on the new coil just put your hand on it after running for a bit if it gets hot you need to add a ballast resistor to coil posative.
