MerControl Ignition Switch

I recently purchased a boat with a 1969 Mercury 650 outboard motor (serial number 2606205). The key in the ignition switch is broken off, but the stub is still operable. I would like to replace the switch before it becomes inoperable. Does anyone know for sure if I can replace my existing switch with this one: Mallory Switch, Ignition Mercury 9-15301 (http://www.iboats.com/Mallory-Switch-Ignition-Mercury-9-15301/dm/view_id.365854)? The live chat operator at iBoats was not sure.

If not, any alternatives or suggestions would be appreciated.

Many dealers have a bundle of ignition keys and will let you try them in their parking lot to see if one fits.--------Or you may be able to find the key # on the switch ( inside the box ) and order a new one.
 
Thanks, racerone. I should have been more explicit. The primary problem is that the key is broken off and half of it is lodged in the ignition switch. Right now, I can insert the stub and get the switch to turn, but that situation is not likely to last long.
