Merc Starter Wet

The bellows on our 4.3 Mercruiser leaked and before we knew it, about 1500 LBS of water (Fresh, not salt) was in the boat. The engine had water up to about one third of the serpentine belt. The dealer repaired this and the boat is running fine. However, I have read and been warned that the starter and trim motor WILL go out. I was planning to spray anti corrosive product into both. It also supposedly also removes moisture.

Should I hope for the best since everything seems fine now, or go ahead and rebuild/replace both motors?

(The top end of the motor was not submerged and no water made it beyond about 1/3rd up...thankfully).

I would take them out, disassemble and dry them out, then spray them with sone fogging oil. I once bought a flood car and heard from everyone how all the electrical would eventually go bad. Never happened. I did have to take out the power seat motors and clean them up (they had developed some rust) and replace the engine control computer but after that, never had any issues.
