any body got a gearbox for a mercury 50 1984 4 cyl long shaft. mines is wrecked

There are some on ebay. Have you tried looking on craigslist sometimes you can get a motor with a blown powerhead for cheap. What happened to yours?

water in oil,grey sludge coming out of prop,took prop shaft of,drive shaft gearing damaged,and prop gearing also

done a teat on engine,all cyl are 125psi

You need to be careful buying a gearbox you cannot physically examine first. I have gotten burned buying from ebay a couple times. You can start and run it for short spurts without the lower unit or even adapt the garden hose to the water tube and run it it will just be pretty loud. I would for sure start it before spending alot of money for a gearbox. One from a dependable rebuilder would be the safe bet but may be cost prohivative.

I searched this part number lots of them on ebay if it looks too shiney its because it has been painted just too look good. Do alot of research on the sellers you may find one close enough to drive to?

This actually looks like a good deal it has been inspected and resealed make him a offer and start a little low you can allways raise the offer.
