Merc controller adjustment

Since I put new cables on I cannot get the controller adjusted properly. Best I have done is forward gear and acceleration plus reverse gear no acceleration. When I play around at box and motor I can get it to reverse but never can get forward and reverse with acceleration both ways.

The control box is single lever; "STO"; "OHC"; and "MERC" stamped on controller. The motor is 1985 Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke non electric start.

Is there usually directions for basic adjustments? Manual for this? I cannot find anything about this controller. Unattached the controller seems to work smoothly and perfectly. Right now the forward throttle moves all the way forward; reverse clicks in but the controller doesn't move furether in reverse so no acceleration.

Any ideas, advice, suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

look closley some push for throttle some pull disengauge shift at box advance throttle push or pull compare to engine.

You will want to hook that cable to a hole with the a longer throw. You are also going to adjust for neutral. Check your adjustments for shifting while someone spins the prop shaft.
