"Hi Everyone...

I am getting my motor ready for the winter and noticed that I have an oil leak. I checked to see if it was leaking from the drain/fill hole or the vent, but it is not. Seems to be leaking from behind the prop (seal i am guessing...?). I removed the prop, but have reached the "cover nut" and I am at a stand-still. I don't have the tool that is referenced in the Seloc manual.

Is this a tool that I should invest it or should I just make my own tool? If it is best to buy the proper tool i will, but I was thiking I could weld 4 nubs on the outside of a big socket and a handle to do the job...

Any advice from someone who has delt with this would be great!! :)

Thanks in advance!

"Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies.

Graham, it smells like gear oil and when I drained the oil in the bottom end, it was milky. So, I am guessing I have a leak somewhere. I cannot see how to pull the lower unit off the rest as it looks like it is cast out of one piece. My grandfather painted the motor a few years back and may have covered any seam, but I just don't know.

My thoughts are that there is a seal around the prop shaft that is at fault? Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks again,
Mike"
