Merc 9.8 lower Question

Took the lower off to reseal have the top end done took the prop off and the screw in ring how do I pull the seal around the prop shaft do you need a puller to remove it thanks...

Looking to pull the bearing carrier does it screw out or do I need a small puller thanks

CAREFULLY push it out the back with a long, slim punch. I grind the end ot the punch with a notch that clears the bearing while pushing on the seal.

Pulled it today and resealed also adjust the shims now it does go in reverse and locks in I new something was wrong there..

Will this procedure work on my 1955 Johnson 5 1/2 too? Looks like to me the seal needs to be driven out. Thanks,
