Hi
I have a 50hp bigfoot mercury 2000 model four stroke carby.
Had some problems with the overheat alarm coming on a while back so took it to the local marine mechanic they checked the water pump all good, replaced thermostat still same problem. Before removing the head we compression tested all good and even!! so we removed the head. There was some small leaks maybe from the exhaust to water jacket but no sign of leaks between compression chamber and water jacket. inspected all water jackets and all were relatively clean only small salty deposits had the head machined level new gasket and re applied. motor runs fine and overheat alarm has not gone off yet only took it for a quick 20 min test today. However when switching off the motor we noticed the water that runs out of the tell tale once engine is switched off is extremely hot ie. too hot too touch, Is this normal the other thing we noticed after pulling the rocker cover off to check the head bolt torque was a small amount of milky oil splashed around inside the cover have heard this sometimes happens from normal condensation build up,
Would appreciate any help regarding the hot water tell tale episode
and with regards to the milky oil in the rocker cover
also noticed a lot of air coming from the sacrificial anode at the bottom of the leg probably just exhaust but have never noticed it before???
any help would be highly appreciated thanks in advance
