Merc 5.7 Carburated Engine What part is this?

If its what I think is circled, its a fuel sender for a "Flo-Scan" unit

Thanks so much! Appreciate it. Makes perfect sense as there is a gauge missing in the boat I bought. That would be the flow sensor to send info to gauge! It had me puzzled as I have never seen on before and i know the fuel system was altered from factory. Mechanical pump swapped for low pressure electric. I appreciate your help!

Mechanical pump swapped for low pressure electric.

Make sure that who ever did this, also included the required N/O low oil pressure switch.
This N/O LOP Switch is to disrupt power to the electric fuel pump in the absence of engine oil pressure.
