"What's the difference between marine pistons and automotive? Are they really worth the extra money? I'm told that if you burn the wrong gas, or additives, or wrong mixture, it burns the coatings off anyway. Are there any differences in rings?"

Any piston made these days will work in that chevy. There are pistons with trick coatings. The coating is mainly for the skirts. Don't run additives or have the wrong mixture and you will be fine. Rings Smings
