Merc 45 - Identifying

Just got a small boat with a mercury 45 4.5 hp motor. as you can tell from the photographs, there's going to need some small repairs. I'm looking for some guidance on this type of engine and a service, repair manual, specs so I can read about what I'm working on.

I don't have any direct experience with working on these type of motors. I can do pretty much most repairs on my own vehicle so I believe I could probably handle this. I just need some step-by-step guidance on what to look for for something that's been relatively well taken care of just old and dated. Pictures attached:

The motor is a 1976 / 77 model.-----Inspect everything on this motor.----If it proves OK then install a new water pump impeller before your first fishing trip.

I am going to tear it down. Where do you expect I could find an ignition coil - the housing looks to be cracked and rather just replace. Found these but even if they don't fit could I personally retro fit them on?
