Merc 350 Mag MPI no spark

I have recently purchased a 1996 Searay sundancer 240 with a Mercury 350 Mag MPI that's not getting spark at the plugs.Does anyone know of any issues with the electronic ignition on this engine? I've installed a new battery and the engine turns over freely.I've worked on outboards in the past but I'm new to this. Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated.

search for other threads regarding no spark. there are some troubleshooting steps you can do to test various parts of the ignition to identify which part has failed.
