I have a Merc 30hp 2004 which I have told is a rebadged Tohatsu 30hp lite.I am wanting to know how to check the timing and to establish the timing specs.I am a motor mechanic by trade and have seen the timing increments on the flywheel but where do you line them up to.I suppose I need to bolt on a tool in order to check it?.I want to check the timing out as two of my other friends have the same engine type and they seem to run alot better.I have checked carby and mucked around with the mixtures but to no avail.
This has been a problem since I bought it new and just thought it was normal but its bugging me.
