"I have a good 1977 140 mercrusier and a 1985 140 with a busted block, What would it take to put the 77 in place of the 85? I know the exhaust riser on the 77 is one piece and the 85 is two piece."

"Thanks Bondo, but isnt the head ports different? I just want to make sure before i order gaskets. Also do i need to change the engine coupling, cause the 77 stern drive is the merc #1 and the 85 stern drive is a mr/alpha one. I have never done this before and want to make sure i have everything i need before i start."
