Merc 2stroke 50hp

I have a 50hp Merc 2 stroke thats hard to start and hard to keep running at low idle. When it does start its very noisy and shaky but if I choke it a bit it will calm right down. Any help?

Always include the mod#@serial# that way we know for sure what were working on.Try rebuilding the fuel pump.Change the hoses,Ethanol is a problem with older hoses.Check the tank for water.
Clean the carbs and reset the air screws.J
