Hey new here - first post and of course its a problem
I've got a Merc '06 25 hp 4stroke efi w/ roughly 100 hours on it. I just did a fluid and filter change and wasnt paying very close attention - I had overfilled the engine oil and discovered this when I went to check the level, made a bit of a mess as it gushed back out the stick hole. I did get it drained back down and it is on the hashes of the stick now. Filter is in place and the lower unit oil was replaced. After some cleanup I hooked up the hose to run it for a bit and low and behold it wont start. (Was running just hours before i started the oil change). At first it started for 1-2 seconds, then quit. Now it just cranks but wont turn over. I trimed the motor level and let it sit over night so that any possible oil from the spill could drain. Level is now half way on the hash marks of the stick. I pulled all 3 plugs (they seemed dry to me) and gave them a good cleaning and reinstalled. Pulled the low pressure fuel filter and gave that a check, nothing of note there. put it back in and pumped the bulb and the fuel goes through easily. I checked around for any obvious loose connections, but find none. I imagine this is somehow related to my overfilling of the motor oil, but who knows. What to try next?
