"I am considering purchasing a fishing boat package that incudes a 25hp merc BF. The boats is a 16ft fishing boat (floor, livewell, etc) with a weight of 455lbs.

I have read that the BF are not good at planing out a boat but more for torque on heavier loads
(i.e. pontoons, etc).

This boat could be loaded down at times with 3 adults and some camping gear.

Should I worry about BF vs standard. The price for the boat package withe the BF is pretty reasonable."

You will just need to invest/check that the correct propellor is installed.The big/heavy duty lower unit should be considered a bonus.

It seems to me that you should be thinking about a more powerful engine. A 35HP would probably be a good idea.
