"well to make a long story short i got what i thought was a good deal on a used motor, wrong! anyway they guy that "fixed it" for me was adament about abandoning the oil injection system and now i am having a tought time with it at an idle. i do alot of fishing around the chesapeake bay and it requires you keep the boat running as you drift around and through the countless bridges. the problem is loading up at idle--any suggestions? thnxs from a new member"

It could be a carb problem but before you jump into them do a link & sync. Be sure to follow the directions given in your manual. Each step must be done in the order given.

did the link and sink as per the manual and everythjng is fine there. leaned out the idle mix and picked up 150 rpms w/o any other adjustment. after reading the manual i can see im going to have to re-install the oil injection as at idle this moter is designed to run at 100 to one and now even with the fuel being leaner its stil going to be 50 to one al the time. has anyone heard of a problem with this oil injection failing?

That may be. Many Mercs don't like the fixed ratio. If this is a 3.0L than the gear will probably never fail.
