Merc 200 oil injection problem

Oil pumps to engine reservoir when at idle if cap on reservoir is loosened. However, oil reservoir does not stay full when running the engine normally. All caps are good and are tight. Could it be the check valve?

Yes, I change them with a tune up. You cannot clean it.

I replaced the check valve which goes to the engine reservoir but still did not fix problem. Are there other check valves in the oil lines? Why would it fill the reservoir with cap open but not when closed?

If the valve in the block is new, and it only fills when cap is removed on engine tank then you have a pressure leak between the engine and the oil reserve tank.

So, If you don't find a leak on the pressure side and the reed valves for that cylinder are good.....Change the lines. You can get them from your Merc Dealer.

It may be enough pressure to fill the tank at idle with the plug removed but not enough to keep it full off idle.
